We are still of the opinion that the number and incidence of accidents is higher than prior to the development. We are also concerned and disappointed at the lack of response we have received to the issues raised with your BCBC traffic planning dept. In summary these issues are: a.. In spite of our advice to you of several weeks ago, we understand that the visually impaired aids are still not operational, in spite of your assurances that this matter will receive your urgent attention. b.. Traffic signal heads are misdirected. c.. The traffic management system does not operate correctly, with several “missed phases” being experienced at all times of day and night. d.. Traffic flow management improvements to improve the safety of residents local to the roundabout have not been implemented as per our suggestions. e.. Traffic signal heads are still misaligned for maximum road user safety f.. Signal heads are still missing, again previously advised to your traffic planning dept. g.. The report back on the traffic audit, our proposed meeting date 6/2/03, is yet to be confirmed by your department. h.. We are still awaiting the following: a.. Original budget cost b.. Tender forecast c.. Contract sum d.. Forecast final account i.. We are aware that numerous complaints have been E Mailed to the Bridgend County Borough Council Customer Care dept; to the best of our knowledge as of 22/01/03 no response has been provided to any of these complaints. j.. We are aware that near misses are occurring on an hourly basis. With the number and frequency of heavy goods vehicles crossing this junction we are deeply concerned that a major accident, with possible loss of life, is a real possibility. May we ask again that we meet, as per our proposal, on the 6/02/03 to review your traffic audit information? We would also like to raise other matters with you at this meeting. These other matters will include the recently announced resubmission of the Island Farm development and associated traffic development, referenced by the Island Farm Development Spokesperson, ref Bridgend Gazette 24/01/03. We look forward to your earliest response on the above matters and others we have raised over this development. Yours sincerely For and on behalf of the Residents of the Oldcastle Ward.
